i have the wrt54gl v1.1 the usa version.

i have used your bin and trx file you provide and i can not get either to work with svn kismet.

is there a certain version i need to use for your bin and trx files?

i also have built kismet as per your guide (and with no errors) but i can not get it to work.

could you verify your procedure with your bin/trx file and with the exact version of kismet you dload or build?

thank-you for this great guide.
i know you got it to work im just trying to figure out why i can not.

I installed kismet from the stable release kismet-2009-06-R1 on the server. The svn release was for cross-compiling. Do you have any error messages you can post? I'll put something together for the flashing procedure.

is your router a wrt54gl v1.1?

could you please verify your trx and bin file to make sure they actually work correctly?

i dont get any errors i just dont get any text outputting on the client.

ive talked to people in #openwrt on freenode and they say

"nbd it's a cooked monitor mode interface
nbd which means it only accepts frames that are not claimed by any active interface
nbd if you want to monitor data, create a second real monitor mode interface with iw"

which isnt like your guide at all.

so if you could actually try the trx or the bin you are offering to make sure they absolutely work that would be a great starting point for me.

i have the wrt54gl v1.1

I have 22 of these devices, yes they are all WRT54GLv1.1. Does ifconfig/iwconfig show a wlan0mon interface? I'll check the trx file on a new wrt54gl and let you know the results, but I just used it on a Buffalo WHR-G54S, and it works.

I just flashed a brand new out of the box WRT54GLv1.1 with the bin file, and it works and is sending data to my kismet server. Let me check something in the docs, and I'll post in a few...

How are you starting kismet_drone? I seem to have forgotten the init.d script in the docs. If you are manually starting it and it still isn't working, that might be another issue. Let me know, and if it turns out that the drone just isn't starting because I left that portion out, I apologize, and I'll fix the docs.

i was able to flash your bin-image on a wrt54gl 1.1 with dd-wrt and it works like a charm.
thank you for your work.

Hello michael,

Are you still wokring with this?

Is there a possibility of getting updated images for the WRT54GL?

Otherwise can you imagine any reason why those images would seem to be dumping data happily to the kismet server(as evidenced by a wireshakr capture) , but the server doesn't see anything (or display any results ?)
